My happy ass just got a ticket....and I was picked up with a LIDAR system. No idea what that is.
Also any help with a ticket/advice would be nice. I don’t want this on my record.

More accurate than radar. And much quicker.
Basically if your radar detector detects LIDAR. You’re already screwed lol.

Fairly accurate assuming they are calibrated at the correct interval, but can be called into question.

A related thing, that I’ve actually gotten to play with, is this:

How should one check to see if calibrated correctly?

Lidar (also written LIDAR , LiDAR or LADAR) is a remote sensing technology that measures distance by illuminating a target with a laser and analyzing the reflected light. Although thought by some to be an acronym of Light Detection And Ranging, the term lidar was actually created as a portmanteau of “light” and “radar”.

Failed development of laser guns. Turns out they aren’t lethal but rather than waste the vast development costs, they were repurposed as speed detection devices.

Nope. Sorry.. Where I live you can’t get rid of them. But Steve Lehto ( http://lehtoslaw.com/ ) might know :)

Easiest way is to pay it and immediately take one of those defensive driving courses that generally takes 3 points off your license and insurance.
Better way might be to try to get the ticket reduced and then take the course.

File a motion to have the hearing in another county across the state. If the cop doesn’t show up the case is dropped. Usually 300 miles away is a safe bet they won’t bother showing.

Very accurate. Try to get it knocked down to a no point offense. They knock it down to impeding traffic here in michigan. Just got hit for 69 in a 50. Cop didn’t even right it up as speeding.

Not a lawyer but.... there should be a means for you to ask the court for the information regarding the summons so you can presumably prepare a defense. It should be included in that.

Well I have a clean record and just moved here could I chalk it up to not knowing the roads?

It’s probably more likely your speedometer is off then

Possibly. Depends on the cop/judge. I’ve gotten out of tickets at the cop level, had points/fine reduced at the judge level, and flat out paid the fine because I was unable to talk anyone down. Also being the only car on that road going 70 in a 45 getting caught doing 70 there wasn’t much else to say or do.
“Late for work” wasn’t the best thing to tell the cop, either.

Well the ticket said I was doing 60 in a 45, but I don’t buy it.

I supposedly was caught doing 60 in a 45, so im in that ball park but I think I may not have anything to worry about cause it hasn’t shown up in the court records.

My guess is you got nailed by the OP police. I did a couple years ago and they used LIDAR then. They were very accurate, my dumbass had just moved back here from LA and was used to driving 50+ in a 35 with no problems. I didn’t contest it but my friends that have always lost, it is very accurate from a pretty long distance.

It was Olathe, they tried getting me 2 weeks ago in the morning but were on the wrong side. Look at how straight College Rd is after Ridgeview or something. that’s where I was supposidly going 15 over in my GT.

Not necessarily, if there are other cars around you can pick up reflections.
